TENBY AND DISTRICT CAMERA CLUB
Over the weekend of 29th30th June members of the club travelled to Kidderminster to enjoy the Severn Valley Branch of the Great Western Railway 1940’s weekend.
Kidderminster and the stations on the line to Bridnorth all had displays of period vehicles both of military and civilian.
On the station concourse’s there were superb displays on the 1940’s memorabilia, air raid shelters, ARP post even a barber to give the fella’s a ‘short back and sides’. Hundreds of re-enactors were everywhere, military staff stopping you and asking for your identity cards. At Highley station a mock battle between the British and German troops took place with Mr Winston Churchill, General Montgomery addressing the nation from the station footbridge following the battle.
The weekend was full of photographic opportunities for the club members, so many being taken it was reported that a couple of photographers used up their battery power.
The weekend concluded with a mock wedding at Arley station under the watchful eye of the Home Guard. Finally at Kidderminster station a service of Remembrance for those who gave their lives during the 1940’s.
