AGM 14th March 2013

TENBY AND DISTRICT CAMERA CLUB

The AGM of the Camera Club was held on Thursday 14th March 2013 at the Community Hall, St Florence.

The welcome by the Chairman Roy Packer, paid recognition to the committee over the past twelve months and to all the members for their continued support and for the quality of photography that was being displayed. He gave reference to the clubs successes in external competitions and also to the members who submit image for the internal competitions. Roy went on to say that the quality of speakers and judges we have had this year has been exceptional; he also told the meeting of the success of three members Jill Baxter gaining EFIAP Silver, Gillian MacKay EFIAP and Mike Cullis Associateship by the Royal Photographic Society, many congratulations on gaining these distinctions. The various officers of the committee all gave reports prior to the election of new officers.

Roy Packer was proposed and by unanimous vote was re elected as chairman, all other officers will continue with one new committee member being added Mrs Donna McKay.

Following a coffee break five motions were debated and voted on.

The evening concluded with the announcement of the clubs annual dinner to be held at the Giltar Hotel, Tenby on 11th May, members are reminded to submit their names and numbers.

Port Talbot Exhibition

Port Talbot CC – Exhibition now open!

The Port Talbot Camera Club 2013 Exhibition opened on 19th March, and will close on 5th April. They are exhibiting 177 mounted and framed prints, and all prints are for sale.
The venue is the Swansea Grand Theatre and entry is free. Opening hours are 9.30am to 10pm Monday to Saturday.
The exhibition is in memory of their friend and talented photographer, Lewis Thelwell, just 19, who took his own life recently

15th March 2013 FIAP Distinctions – It’s Official…. Great news from Jan Cawley I am delighted to announce that all twenty one applicants have been successful in achieving their FIAP Distinctions this year. My congratulations go to: AFIAP - Barry Hill, Paul Davies, Brian Coleman, Cliff Emery, Dave Russell, Gwynfryn Jones, Jenny Hibbert, Robert Dummer and Vikki Baines. EFIAP - Ed Cloutman, Alan Jenkinson, Gill Mackay, Graham Davies, Haydn Thomas, John Cooke, Malcolm Kingswell, Neville Thomas and Leigh Woolford. EFIAP/bronze - Ian Ledgard. EFIAP/silver - Jill Baxter and Jan Cawley. I will get in touch about presenting the certificates. The Life Cards have yet to arrive!
Roger Tiley at the Rhondda Photojournalist and documentary photographer Roger Tiley will be speaking at the Rhondda Camera Club (Trealaw Christian Fellowship Centre, Maesyfynnon Terrace, Trealaw, CF40 2QA) on Tuesday 19th March at 7.30pm. All are welcome. Admission £2 Message to Competition Secretaries - Jan Cawley has also sent us the following: On behalf of the Welsh Photographic Federation I would like to enter the FIAP Biennial next month and would therefore like you all to send me some images. The subject matter is an open one but in order to achieve coherence I have to have some basic theme to work on. Please therefore send me a wide range of images to help me sort out an entry.
Images need to be 72dpi, (JPG 10) 2400 pixels on the largest side. I must have them by March 25th. In 2011 we came joint 4th with Scotland. It would be nice to try to better this in 2013. Please would all secretaries inform their members of this as soon as possible.

Welsh Salon Judges The judges for the 2013 Welsh Salon of Photography will be: Graeme Webb EFIAP, EPSA. Kate Webb EFIAP, EPSA and Ann Davies EFIAP DPAGB. Gold for Ian Ian Ledgard’s mono image ‘Conducting the Choir’ has been awarded a Gold Medal in the Coachella Valley Salon recently held in California. Well done indeed! New Quay Exhibition New Quay Camera Club’s 2013 Exhibition opens on Saturday 23 March at the Tabernacle Church, Glanmor Terrace, New Quay. The hours of opening are 11am to 5pm every day. The exhibition will run up to and including Sunday 6 April.
